Pageant FAQs

What is the goal of the pageant?

We want to foster the next generation of kind, empathetic, and intelligent female Chinese American leaders in the community. Therefore, we heavily focus on community concern and public speaking skills. The weeks of pageant training provided by the pageant producer will be focused on honing poise, public speaking, increasing self-confidence, and so much more. In the end, every contestant should gain skillsets that can be applied in many other areas of their lives.

How is the pageant scored?

The pageant is broken into the following segments, totaling 135 points:

  • Self- introduction (25 points)

  • Talent (15 points)

  • Q&A (30 points)

  • Fitness (20 points)

  • Platform (45)

Will I need to provide anything?

You should expect to purchase, or bring if you have, the following items should you become a contestant:

  • Beige, silver, or gold heels that are at least 2 inches. Style is your choice.

  • Strapless nude bra (preferably a sticky bra)

  • Short cocktail dress of any color and any style for the self-introduction segment

  • Anything you need for your talent presentation

An evening gown, Qipao, and two-piece swimsuit will be provided at no cost to each contestant for the pageant night.

Opportunities

Queen - $750 cash prize, Sponsorship to represent Chicago in Miss Chinatown USA 2020 (worth $2000), training for Miss Chinatown USA, promotional opportunities

First Princess - $750 cash prize, promotional opportunities

Second Princess - $500 cash prize, promotional opportunities

Miss Congeniality** - promotional opportunities

** Chosen by fellow contestants, qualified for any other title

qualifications

  1. There are NO fees to apply or participate

  2. Your father must be of Chinese descent*

  3. A single female, never married, never have been a parent, and never had a marriage annulled*

  4. At least 17 years old and not over 26 by Jan 31, 2020*

  5. If under 18 years of age, you must have parental or guardian approval.

  6. A citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.A.*

  7. A resident of Illinois

  8. You can be a former contestant of the Miss Chinese Chicago pageant, but cannot be a titleholder.

* This qualification is driven by the Miss Chinatown USA qualifications. The Miss Chinese Chicago Queen is provided sponsorship to represent Chicago in the Miss Chinatown USA pageant in San Francisco.
